I’ve always believed that ideas never exist in a vacuum, that they germinate from other ideas and concepts. Creativity fuels creativity, as seen in a lot of what goes up on art communities like DeviantArt. Unfortunately, copyright laws tend to misrepresent how creative works are perceived, and that often becomes a bag of trouble for everyone attached to it. But it doesnt take away from the base truth that a good idea builds upon existing concepts and thoughts. We’ve spoken about this happenening in the music industry in an earlier post.

Now, Kirby Ferguson, the creator of Everything is a Remix series tells us in a TED talk that took place at TED Global in Edinburgh, Scotland, that nothing is truly original. Everything is inspired. Everything is a remix. And that even our most celebrated creators borrow, steal and transform.
