Branded in Cinema

Anyone who has (dared to) watch Ra.One will have experienced the lengthy tribute to all the partnering brands which occurs before the movie commences and runs for a good 10 minutes. And as the movie begins to roll, you will find those brands come up in some scene or the other.

Strategic product placement in movies is a doctored move, adopted by many brands worldwide. Whether it’s the beverage that the actors drink during a sexy workout session or the car they drive during an exciting car chase scene, brands pop in wherever they can.

Antrepo Design Industry, who specialise in minimalist art, has designed a series of typographic movie posters which are ‘alternative movie posters about brand integration’, showcasing a list of brands that appear in the specified movie. These posters are limited edition and are made from different materials.

Kill Bill Vol.1, The Matrix Trilogy, The Bourne Ultimatum, The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Ocean’s Eleven, The Da Vinci Code, Cast Away, Fight Club and Pulp Fiction are some of the movies featured on the posters.

Pretty interesting set this is! Have a look!

The Bourne Ultimatum and Ocean’s Eleven take this whole brand-partnering thing to another level!!! Sheesh!

I don’t find anything awesome about this.

The artist has managed to tell us that each movie has featured SO MANY BRANDS in such a simple and direct manner. What’s not awesome about it!

what isn’t awesome is the fact is that this is merely clerical work done and put up in the vain hope that it brings some hits to the page.

wats the big deal about this post? just a random assortment. it may be informative (for some), but there is definitely nothing “awesome” about it.
